Bribery

When someone offers to give you something and you give them something else in return, we tend to refer to this action as reciprocity. “You scratch my back and I will scratch yours”, seems to be the norm for our government. Lately, I believe that our ruling body is stretching this belief into something far more dangerous. You see, when someone “gives” something and expects something in return, this cordial exchange has the potential to become something far darker. It is less of an act of appreciation and more of an act of BRIBERY. The ethics are left out of the equation, thus, opening the door for corruption.

I fail to see why every tax that is proposed, needs to have an attachment added to “sweeten the pot.” If the tax/bill is not worthy of being passed then it should take the natural course and fail. Too many times our leaders accept these propositions only after they are pumped up with personal agendas that have no bearing to the original themes. Barack Obama signed a bill this week that cut military costs in a time when America has the potential to be at war, in some form, in most of the Middle East and Asia. Not a very smart thing to do when a country is in a recession, cut jobs and weaken the military? He calls it his “fiscal responsibility” to the public. None the less, the expansion of “hate crimes” to include acts against gay people was added to the bill. How does weakening the military and protecting gay rights have anything in common? They don’t!

This is just another instance of personal political agendas being slid in on the coattails of other laws. Why do these acts continue in plain sight of the press and the American people with no consequences? I personally am tired of our leadership accepting, what is no better than, a bribe to let personal agendas “piggy-back” on the bills that are being passed. If they feel the need to make bills more “palatable” to pass, then they must be distasteful.
