PRISON. The difference between prison and jail is simply, prisons are made to house people who have been convicted of a crime and have long terms to serve, while a jail is for people awaiting trial and people who have been convicted that have shorter terms to serve. So, contrary to what prisoners will say, EVERYONE in prison has been convicted of a crime.
With this, I would like to share a few things with you that the general public may not know about prison life. Did you know?
• In most prisons, the prisoners are allowed to play basketball
• Prisoners are allowed to lift weights
• If they follow rules accordingly, and end up housed in minimum security, they are allowed TV sets in their rooms and some are even allow DVD players
• The prisons are climate controlled. Heat and air conditioning
• They do not have to work if they do not want to. It is a priveledge
• They receive free healthcare
• They receive free dental care
Now I am not 100% sure, but after finding out these facts, my son may rather go to prison than be grounded for his bad report card. Let’s see why in a comparison.
• If he is grounded, there are no outside sports activities that he is allowed to participate in.
• He is not allowed to work-out in our garage. (Which I am sure is not nearly as nice and equipped as the prison gym).
• He is not allowed to watch TV in his room either.
• He does however get the luxury of climate control as it affects the rest of the family
• He must continue to pull his weight around the house and complete his chores
• He continues receiving free healthcare as this would just dig further into my pocketbook
• He continues to receive free dental care. Same reasoning as above
So there you have it folks. If you go to prison you will receive more benefits than if you bring home a bad report card. Kind of silly isn’t it? Why don’t we demand that our prisons be run as a form of punishment and a deterrent to career criminals. It won’t kill them to sleep in non-climate controlled prisons. Our troops live in tents in the 120 degree heat of the desert while being shot at. They stay there for years on end. Our troops don’t have the luxury of “not working” if they don’t feel like it. Who should we be taking care of; criminals? or the people fighting wars and sacrificing their lives for us? If my idea of prison sounds like a bad place to be, GOOD. Don’t screw up or you may find yourself living there, repenting, and being remorseful for your actions; the way that prisoners are supposed to live.

Our America
Many, many moons ago….in a far far away land, there was a great country the people called “The United States of America”. This country was the most powerful country in the world, feared by all who would do evil and respected by all who fought for good. This was a land where brave men and women went that wanted more out of life. These were not the kind of people who were lazy or cowards, they were the kind of people that blazed their own path and didn’t take “no” for an answer.
As they started their new country, others took notice of the bravery and determination of these pioneers. Over the years, the world saw that it was to their advantage to stay on the good side of these determined souls. They watched as evil empire after evil empire fell to the great armies of the Americans. This country grew to encompass land from coast to coast on its new continent. Many tried in vain to topple the superpower, while others took notice of the Americans superiority and created alliances with them. For over two hundred years the Americans defeated the likes of Germany, Japan, Mexico, Italy and countless internal enemies of the country.
As the Americans honed their military skills, numerous industrial firsts were introduced to the world from its citizens. Self pride and a strong moral compass kept the country in line and helped turn out world leaders of unequaled character. Many “firsts” were awarded to Americans throughout history; the first man on the moon, medical breakthroughs, humanitarian aid, and military conquests were all what made this country great.
I know what you are probably thinking, “Enough with the history lesson”. Right? Well, I would hope that you are thinking “How did this great country fall to its weak existence of today?” We the People have the ability to turn this thing around. Let’s tell our career politicians that we are unhappy with them and that they better change or suffer the consequences. This country was founded by men who were leaders, not followers. If Washington doesn’t believe that we can take control of this country, all they need to do is read their history books.
